French band Air is creating a great hype on their new album which is to be released on October, 5th 2009.
So far, in order to allow for mass distribution of their digital good they have:
- Distributed for free “Do the Joy“, a track of the album to the subscribers of their newsletter
- Created a website dedicated to the new album with a blog
- Setup a Facebook fan page
- Organised a World Premiere Listening Party where you can pre-order the latest album and post facebook statuses.
Past remarkable examples of innovative music distribution of Web 2.0 Era were:
- In late 2007, when Radiohead distributed their Album In Rainbows on a you-decide-the-price scheme where even free was allowed.
- In March 2008, Nine Inch Nails distributed their album Ghosts I-IV under a Creative Commons licence.
